Ashes: Start of a Series

As some of you may know, I'm a furry. As for those who don't know, well, now you do! =P And yet for those who don't know what a furry is, its what people would call a "fandom" of people who believe in anthropomorphism. And if you're totally lost, just do a wiki search of "Furry fandom"

Anyways; I'm working on a new short story series and here's the first chapter. I won't really tell you much about it, because this time you'll have to read it! zOMG! O.O =P hehe. I hope you enjoy!!!

ASHES

The red hot ashes crumpled and cracked as he took a long drag from his cigarette, almost moaning in pleasure as the smoke filled his lungs. With a deep sigh, he released the large cloud of smoke and watched as it danced and twirled in the cold midnight air.

He looked out beyond the balcony and past the grey city and out to the ocean shore, barely visible only by a small glimmer of the moon’s reflection. He chuckled to himself.

“Just like my dreams…” He whispered so low that even a hawk would have been strained to hear what he said. His eyes widened and he quickly took out a small piece of paper and scribbled a quick note on it.

Again he whispered under his breath. “…Watching his dreams fade away…small glint in the distance…”

“Talking to yourself again, Leon?”

Leon jumped up and let out a small squeal and then huffed and threw the pen at the fox-coon.

“Damn it Kyle! You know I hate it when you do that!”

Kyle held up one paw in defense while the other clutched his sides as he laughed almost uncontrollably.

“I’m sorry man; I just never get tired of that!”

Leon huffed again and glared at him for a short moment, and turned out to see the city before him, sleeping like a big giant.

Kyle swallowed down the rest of the humor that was bubbling inside of him and cleared his throat.

“It’s that time again, isn’t it?” Leon nodded his head slightly and held out his pack of cigarettes that seemed to come out of nowhere. Kyle eagerly accepted it and helped himself with a few.

“It’s been four years tonight…” Leon whispered. He finished off his cigarette and tossed the butt down to the alley six stories below them. He smelled Kyle light up his, and he was tempted to reach for another.

“Leon…I know it’s hard, but as your best friend, I must say, that it’s time to move on. It’s not healthy to keep going on like this.”

Leon leaned on the railing and sighed deeply, allowing a rare tear to trickle down his cheek. “I loved him so much though…”

Kyle patted his shoulder and nodded. “I know…we all loved him…and I know you loved him more…but it’s time you moved on. You can’t change the past.”

Leon nodded and shipped his eyes clear of any tears. “Ok…but I want to see him one more time before I do…” He turned towards the fox-coon with his purple eyes showing every ounce of his sorrow.

Kyle reached out and wrapped an arm around his shoulders. He nuzzled against Leon’s neck and nodded. “OK…just one more time for my Kit.”

Leon smiled so slightly that he was sure Kyle wouldn’t be able to see. “Thanks Cooney.” He too nuzzled the fox-coon’s neck. “You’re the best friend anyone could ask for.”

Kyle smiled and patted Leon’s shoulder. “Now that’s the old cheetah I’m talking about.”

Leon smiled and pushed Kyle playfully. “Just make that comment last while it can; don’t expect me to kowtow to you.”

Above the two, an old woman shouted, “You damn kids! Go to bed! Or better yet, LEAVE! It’s 2 am!”

The two of them had to keep from laughing and under much pain, Leon shouted back, “Sorry Miss Garrison! We were just leaving!”

Both of them turned around and headed back inside where they let out their laughter, almost busting their sides open. Leon was the first to quiet down and waited for Kyle to stop until just a small chuckle escaped their lips. “Come on man, let’s go.”

Just Another Tuesday

Just Another Tuesday...

Just another Tuesday...
I got to sleep in.
Just another Tuesday...
I was late for class still.
Just another Tuesday...
I had lunch during 3rd hour.
Just another Tuesday...
I look forward to that pizza.
Just another Tuesday...
When will this day end?

I Was Supposed To...

So yeah this is a pretty old poem (to my standards at least) and I just stumbled on it on Google Docs (I know, I'm just every where x.x) so yeah, I thought you people might enjoy it. So yeah...ENJOY!!

I was suppose to...

I was suppose to write something pleasant,
Something elegant and beautiful,
Something with a flowing river of grace,
But what,
If any,
Is their for beauty in hate?

The trembling roars of lies,
The piercing shrieks of cries.
The laughter of defiance,
And the cowering of my pride?

I was suppose to write something magnificent,
Something with a beat of a heart,
A rythm to dance to,
And something to be called an art.
But how can there be beauty,
In such a place?
In such a world we call ours?

We think the war is in Iraq,
We think we're safe at home,
But soon there will be war,
Within our very souls.

A tension will build,
Exceeding the capacity of our minds,
All senses will be driven out,
And our only love,
Will be love in hate.
How...
How can you tell me...
To write something beautiful,
When the only beauty,
Is the graceful killing of our world?

WOO! POEM TIME!!

So yeah here's the poem that I've told you about. I hope you like it!

God of War

I phone a friend,
That lives ten miles away.
He phones his family,
Ten thousand miles away.

I email photos of myself,
With a haircut and new clothes.
He emails me a photo,
With hair and uniform in the desert wind that blows.

I spend a dollar-eighty,
For a ten minute phone call.
He spends up to a week,
For a ten minute call.

I complain about the food,
To buy, what a pain it is.
He complains about the food,
How dry and plain it is.

I wake up at 6:00am,
To walk a mile to school.
He wakes up at 11:00am,
To run around the motor pool.

I complain about the 60 degree weather,
Sitting under the shady noon.
He complains about the 110 degree weather,
Sitting in the middle of the dunes.

I scream at the monitor,
As I get killed in God of War.
He screams at the man in front,
Who got killed in the fog of war.

His eyes...

Right now in my creative writing class, we're learning how to use tone and description without using things like "They were so pretty" or "I ran as fast as I could." So I'm posting this little bit here as practice. Tell me what you think ^^

I glanced up from down on the floor and gasped at the sight of his eyes. They were like baby-blue diamonds. Even in the dimly lit halls of the old run down school, they still shown and sparkled like we were standing in the middle of a summer day with the sun shining directly into them. His gaze made me feel hot as I felt the rush of blood spread to my face. I knew I was blushing. I was probably blushing harder than ever before; I was sure I looked like a cherry. His eyes stayed glued to mine though. I wanted to look away but it seemed like they were playing the song of the Sirens, luring me closer and closer.
